Starting times are spaced out beginning at 5:30/6:00 allowing plenty of time between groups so players do not feel pressured. Family Tee tee markers are from the 150 Yard Poles in the center of the fairway. Everyone in the group – Mom, Dad, and the Kids – Play from the same tees.

Babcock Returns to Lake Panorama National

Gary Babcock, the 2005 Iowa PGA Section Assistant Golf Professional of the Year joins the Lake's Professional Staff

Gary's Approach to Teaching:

I evaluate every student by first analyzing ball flight. The ball flight tells me what is happening at impact. I then work backwards. The main goal is to change ball flight to produce better shots. Therefore, changing what your shots are doing means we have to change what is happening at impact.

Where I’m coming from: Any change made to a students swing must have a positive effect on impact. In my opinion, anything else may make a swing look nicer, but if it has no bearing on impact, why bother? This is why I fix every student’s swing by starting in this order: ball-flight, then impact, then swing plane.

I ensure all my students understand that golf is a difficult game. But if they understand why their ball produces a certain type of shot and they have a plan to fix their faults they will improve. More importantly, I teach them that improvement takes practice and patience.
